Start your care career at the Reinvent Your Career Expo

With the Australian Government building aged care, home care and disability services schemes for the future, now is the best time to invest in a career in the care services industry.i

Billion dollar packages are being implemented over the next few years in both the aged care and home care industries and the disability services sector is set to receive $2 billion in New South Wales alone.ii

With 28% of the population in New South Wales now aged over 65iii and 1.4 million people living with a disability in New South Walesiiii, the need for home care, aged care or disability services is great.

The care services industry will be fully represented at the Sydney Reinvent Your Career Expo, with carecareers, Australian Home Care and Interrelate Family Centres offering positions in frontline support and home care.

Mike Field, Project Manager of Workforce Recruitment at carercareers, states: “There has never been a better time to consider a career in the disability and community care sector. An ageing population and growing demand for services means that the sector will need an additional 10,000 workers in New South Wales over the next five years.”

“Previous qualifications are not essential to work in our industry – if you have a first aid certificate, people skills, and the right attitude there are employers willing to offer on-the-job training.”

Mr Field goes on to say that carercareers are attending the Reinvent Your Career Expo: “because it attracts exactly the sort of people we are looking for – mature workers with energy and life experience looking for more rewarding work.”

Nessa Pastoors, HR Manager at Australian Home Care, states that: “Australian Home Care is a not-for-profit organisation, owned by Multiple Sclerosis Limited and is the largest private provider of in-home care, personal and domestic services to people with a disability and the frail aged in Victoria and New South Wales. We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic support workers to provide home and personal care assistance to our clients.”

“We have been recommended over by our head office in Melbourne who have been attending this Expo for the last couple of years. According to the feedback we believe it is a great opportunity for us to promote our services to the wider community. All the past expos have been a great success for our teams in Melbourne and we are hoping for the same results for our team in New South Wales as well.”

The Sydney Reinvent Your Career Expo will be held on the 8th and 9th of September at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre from 10am to 4pm. Tickets are available at the door for $10 for a day pass or $15 for a two day pass, under are 18 free.
