MEDIA RELEASE: Fast track your studies with Recognition of Prior Learning

If you have certain skills and knowledge gained through work experience, prior training and studies, career knowledge and general life experience, but you don’t have the ‘piece of paper’ to prove it, then Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) could put you on the fast track to obtaining that qualification.

Through RPL you could get a vocational qualification, or part of a qualification, without having to study what you already know. Get Qualified Australia offers RPL options for over 200 qualifications via their Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partners and alliances across an extensive range of professional industries and fields, including: tourism and hospitality, business and management, marketing, retail, human resources, education and training, aged care and child care, transport and logistics, trades and many more.

Professional Industry Skills Assessors from Get Qualified Australia will be at the Sydney Reinvent Your Career Expo to complete a free RPL evaluation for participants and suggest suitable qualifications matching their skills and experience. Get Qualified Australia’s assessors have all held executive level positions in their industries of expertise and have also worked as trainers and assessors in both industry, ‘on the job’ and lecturing environments, so they can provide valuable recommendations, advice and guidance.

Adam Wadi, Managing Director of Get Qualified Australia says, “We will be able to provide attendees detailed information on the process of preparing RPL applications so they can achieve competency in nationally recognised qualifications in order to have certifications issued quickly and easily via RPL. Qualifications ranging from Certificate II through to Advanced Diploma level can be issued using the RPL assessment process.”

“Once the RPL process is completed, applicants can enrol in higher level studies, including university degrees, using established ‘pathways’ and receive exemptions and credits for the units completed to achieve the qualification. This will assist with fast tracking the completion of further studies.”

“Additionally, a resume or CV that provides a list of nationally recognised qualifications will establish professional standards, relevance and impact of the detailed career history, thus increasing the potential for internal promotions and credibility with new job prospects and applications.”

Mr Wadi say of attending the Reinvent Your Career Expo, “We see great vision in the Reinvent Your Career Expo for assisting attendees in seeking and realising diverse and varied methods to enhance and develop their current ‘employability skills’. This is one of the key elements of the RPL process.”

“The Federal Government has set international benchmarks by working with industry training councils, national and state training authorities, various industry associations and key stakeholders in the development of a comprehensive set of national training packages within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).”

“Employability skills detailed in the units of competency within the industry training packages allow for an extensive range of methods that can be used to verify and assess competency of applicants as an integral part of the RPL process.”

“Although RPL is understood widely to be a valid method for seeking exemptions and credits for studies, RPL as a method for assessing work-based career experience has not been promoted extensively. Using our RTO partnerships and alliances, Get Qualified Australia is the leading RPL company in Australia.”

“As part of our business mission, Get Qualified Australia focus on helping to develop the skills of the national workforce so that Australia can continue to remain strong and vibrant in the constantly evolving global economy.”

As part of their participation at the Reinvent Your Career Expo in Sydney Get Qualified Australia will be presenting a dynamic seminar titled ‘Recognition of Prior Learning & Skills Recognition – Act Now!’ where they will explain and discuss the key concepts and components of RPL. “Our aim is to familiarise attendees with the process so that they will consider obtaining qualifications for their established skills and expertise via the RPL process. Our seminar will provide clear and concise information to attendees and various stakeholders so they are aware of RPL options and understand that is a valid method for verifying career experience that is fully endorsed by the Australian Government”, says Mr Wadi.

“We endeavour to help people realise that RPL provides established methods and opportunities for assessing the valuable work-based skills that each individual has developed throughout their career.”

Get Qualified Australia will be giving away enrolments in the Diploma of Management, to be completed utilising the RPL process, to three lucky Reinvent Your Career Expo attendees over the weekend.i
