“About 5000 job-seekers are expected to attend the Reinvent Your Career Expo in Brisbane on March 27 and 28,” Mr Knight said.

“While business confidence is well above the national average in the Territory, attracting skilled labor continues to be a significant challenge for many of our businesses.

“With 5000 job-ready prospects making themselves available in one location, the Reinvent Your Career Expo will offer a rich pool of talent for Territory businesses to draw on.

“Industry associations and the NT Government have joined forces to offer an interactive jobs booth which will showcase new opportunities in the Territory.

“The Henderson Government recognises the skills challenges facing Territory business which is why we are trying to identify skilled workers through local, national and international recruitment initiatives.”

Reinvent Your Career is aimed at the ‘real age’ job market – workers aged over 25 with skills and experience.

The Chamber of CommerceNT, Master Builders NT, Minerals Council of Australia NT, NT Police Force, Charles Darwin University and Engineers Australia will travel to the expo on March 27-28 to highlight the opportunities available in the NT.

Jobseekers around Australia will be able to access the listed vacancies during the Reinvent Your Career Expo and up until 16 April 2010.

The organiser’s research of over 3000 attendees last year found that 51% of attendees indicated that they would move location if they found the right job.  Further career lifestyle initiatives like the ACT Governments – ‘Live in Canberra’ will also be present.

Reinvent Your Career Expo founder ‘Nicholas Ricciuti’ explains,” This initiative was built intentionally for adults who may be bored with their current job, are seeking alternative challenges, a lifestyle career change or are re-entering the workforce. We simply connect organisations and people at a time when it’s right for both parties. If knowledge is power then increasing your “VQ” (Vocational Intelligence) will allow attendees to make more astute career decisions. Recognition of prior learning and experience is now being valued in areas of industry that may lead career transitioners into previously non considered vocations.”

“This event will also assist ‘non school leavers’ fast track their search and placement into the right career with Queensland TAFE’s and some of Australia’s best universities and private educators and trainers offering ‘adult friendly’ degrees, diploma’s and courses tailored to accommodate adult lifestyle’s and commitments.”

“Anyone who is tired of the online frustration, whilst gaining relevant information or the vacuum which exists when applying for jobs, can now meet face to face
with potential employers actively seeking experienced adults now. Enabling adults to meet one on one with real employers, educators and trainers is a relief for most people.”
