The opening of a new Bunnings Warehouse in Bethania later this year will help create more jobs for the local community.

The new store, which will be located on Glasson Dr, Bethania, will hire 150 local team members in preparation for its grand opening just before Christmas.

Bunnings general manager of property Andrew Marks said he was pleased the new warehouse would help improve the current employment rate in Logan.

“We are delighted to enable job creation and development opportunities for the local community,” he said.

This store will employ 150 team members when it is up and running, which is in addition to the 200 jobs which have already been generated through the construction process.

“Strong job employment and on-the-job training for residents and school leavers is what we will bring to the area.

“We want our team members to live, work and raise families in the area that we operate, so it is important for us that we contribute to the wellbeing of the community and its success.”

More than $33 million has been developed into the 3ha, with construction already well under way.

The new warehouse will dedicate 13,500m2 to display their latest home improvement and outdoor living products.

In addition, the new store will also showcase the latest kitchen, laundry and bathroom displays, as well as nursery and outdoor leisure displays.

There will be a tool shop, cafe and other great facilities on offer for builders and tradesmen.

Mayor Pam Parker toured the facility with Mr Marks last week at the official site launch, where she thanked Mr Marks for his investment to Logan.

“We are a city which is experiencing amazing growth, so as a council, our focus needs to be on job creation,” she said.

“In the next 20 years we will see another 200,000 people in our region, so we need more jobs in the local area.

“I want to thank Bunnings for the 150 jobs you will be creating and the on-the-spot training you will be providing.”

Councillor Don Peterson (Division 4) was also on hand for the tour.

He said residents in his area were excited about the opening of the new store.

“This whole complex is going to be very exciting,” he said.

“This is going to be a hub for the local area and from the comments I have received from people, they can’t wait for it to be open.

“Bunnings is like the original men’s shed.”

Bunnings is expected to begin the hiring process for its new store later this year just before the store opens.
